Kwun Tong Audio Guide x Steve Hui
02.01.2022
Overview
Alongside our Sham Shui Po x Yat Pit Audio Guide, we got multidisciplinary artist Steve Hui (Nerve) to design an audio-guided tour for Kwun Tong.
“The sound design documents my personal history of working and living in Kwun Tong— a soundtrack of my Kwun-Tong-life as most of this music was created in my little studio in a factory building or in my bedroom.”
Steve’s voice interweaves with a mix of sounds, transporting us back and forth a Kwun Tong under revitalisation and episodes from his memory of living in the area for over 30 years to share a glimpse of the communities and subcultures hidden among these streets and industrial buildings.
The audio guide begins with a short walk from Kwun Tong MTR Station Exit B to the nearby Lladro Centre, leading with a visit to one of our Satellite Exhibitions, “Megalopolis Nebula Post 2019 – Hong Kong” by Ike Cheung, followed by a stroll along Shui Wo Street Market, Yue Man Hawker Bazaar, KMB Kwun Tong Depot, Hung To Road, Kwun Tong Promenade beneath the Kwun Tong Bypass, and ending at the Kwun Tong Ferry Pier.
This audio guide is available in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. A link to the Audio Guide playlist and map will be sent to your email upon registration, after which you’re free to start exploring whenever you wish
After the tour, you may head back to the vinyl records store Analog Dept. Records for a screening session of our Photography Cinema selections (20th Nov, 15:00-16:20 or 17:00-18:20). No pre-registration is needed, so feel free to drop by any time.
