Photobook Showcase: Call for Exhibitors

Overview

HKIPF is delighted to launch an open call for photobook makers, publishers, and distributors to participate in the second edition of Photobook Showcase, which is to take place at L1 Gallery of JCCAC from 25 to 27 October 2019, as part of the HKIPF Photography is Life Festival.

Photobook is an object to touch, love, and collect, a little universe within itself. HKIPF aims to bring diversity to photography reading and to promote photobook culture, and ultimately photography literacy, bringing together a wide range of publishers and distributors of various book architecture, from the traditional, classical modes to more experimental and complex forms, for an estimated 15,000+ visitors.

International and local publishers, independent bookstores, and individual artists are invited to apply. Participation is free of charge.

HKIPF also launches The Photobook Reading Room at the same venue, a unique space with a specially curated selection of art publications for visitors to enjoy photobooks from all over the world.

Photobook Showcase will run concurrently with the Photography is Life Festival, also at JCCAC. This Festival, also led by HKIPF, will feature a camera fair, artist talks, workshops, films, music, demonstrations, tea sharing, and family activities.

To increase visibility of independent self-publishers, we welcome exhibitors to share their views and strategies on photobook making, as well as on the current contexts and challenges of the medium.
